While there is no more recent data on royal sites specifically, in 2022 Visit Britain found that history and heritage were the biggest pull factors for tourists. The regional Fed said Murphy stepped down from one of its New York Fed director slots reserved for bankers. Arrow, a bank holding company, also owns Saratoga National Bank and Trust Co.Murphy had been a Class A director on the New York Fed board since January 2021. Fed bank presidents have also said their boards provide local economic intelligence and advice on running large institutions. The New York Fed has had its own troubles with bankers on its board in years past. The setup of the regional Fed board of directors is determined by law and not the central bank.

Growing up in Glens Falls, N.Y., Edward C. Prescott got an insider’s view of business from chats with his father, an engineer and later comptroller for a global supplier of pigments. Those insights made the economics courses he took in college seem less theoretical and more relevant than they might have seemed to other students. Dr. Prescott, who earned a Ph.D. degree at Carnegie Mellon University in 1967 and shared a Nobel Prize in economics with Finn E. Kydland in 2004, helped transform thinking on how central bankers and other policy makers should steer economies and on what causes booms and busts.
